don't let the bed bugs b-.... ouch!

bed bugs, known to us all by the good-night ditty, apparently exist and are becoming more common. who thinks about bed bugs? i haven't ever thought about them and have never known anyone who's been bothered by them.

but they're becoming a real problem in this country, it seems. ohio and new york city sound like places to stay away from, as well as expensive hotels. if we didn't already have our plane tickets, i would be sorely tempted to stay home. no ... we're not staying in an expensive hotel, but still ...

bugs. yuck!

There are occasional notices in newsletters in my building about bedbugs, so I guess they've been a problem here. It still amazes me that some people try and sell their mattresses when the move. Mildly gross.

Anyway, Aimee and I had a brief scare when, the morning after watching the 4th of July fireworks along the Erie canal, we found little bites all over our necks & upper backs. Not mosquito bites (though we got those at the canal).

So I went into crazy containment mode and threw the sheets & pillowcases into a trash bag and quarantined the clothes I'd been wearing. But then I found a webpage on the Harvard website that explained more about them, and after checking, we decided we must've just brought home some critter and to not panic.

    No problems since then!
