i am very particular about my hand lotions. a lot of them are really stinky. i mean, some fruity thing or some exotic something-or-other which totally makes me gag! other lotions are too greasy or too waxy.
but my daughter-in-law gave me this one which says it's for very dry skin but it doesn't claim a fragrance. it has one though. everytime i put it on i immediately find myself sitting in the weeds behind a big old barn on a gorgeous sunny day popping a new piece of bubble gum in my mouth. and i love it!
i mean, it sounds weird. but the fragrance is so clean and woodsy and happy and child-like. and i used the last of it last night. it's just sad.
wait! hold the phone! i just read the back of the tube. they say rainmakers of shea and cocoa butter, sunflower, soybean, ginseng, aloe, gentian root, murumuru, mango, kokum butter, boise oil, palmarosa, galbanum and grapefuit.
nah ... sunshine, bubble gum and weeds.

smooth groove
Groovera is still, of course, my favorite music station. i just listened to a track by Silk on tim's facebook page. very smooth, very nice.
honestly, one of these days i simply have to get an i-pod so i can gather (read: buy) the different musics i love, and listen to them!

watch your step, little guy
i usually check out msnbc.com for my news, but recently have discovered the english site, mailonline.com. it often has more news about the u.s. than the other site, however i've seen more simply terrible articles on it recently.
so i have to say i'm just really sick of demented parents horribly abusing their kids, incredibly narcissistic celebrities, criminals who walk when they are unbelievably guilty, completely clue-less and wicked business persons, disgustingly self-centered politicians, the miranda warning, disturbing weather trends, and plastic surgery.
that said, i found this story about the elk being gentle with a small marmot very nice. even if he just got it out of the water because he doesn't like wiggly things in his drinking bowl, it was still nice.

where does the violence come from?
you know, i just can't help wondering, where did we go wrong? what is it with the crass, hateful, hurtful stuff that's going on with our society these days? i don't watch t.v. and it's probably a very good thing or i'd always be throwing up. i used to think all this brainless stuff started with roseanne, but the husband and i talked the other day and decided it really started with all in the family. archie was a jerk. and people loved watching his show. *sigh*
so have you seen the commercials from the superbowl? there are a couple of sites you can go to and check them out. i like this site, probably because you can rate them. and believe me, there are A LOT of zeroes there. go check it out. the lowest of the low (according to me) were Pepsi (several were violent, WTF?!!), Doritos (just gross! except i like the fish food one), GoDaddy (they were about sex. and were stupid), Teleflora (disgustingly dumb!), Snickers, Staples, Chatter.com, Mini, Homeaway.com (encouraging infant abuse?), Stella Artois (puh-leeze), Fox, and Wendy's (slapping strangers??).
but be watching for these which (i thought) ranged from pretty good to great: E-Trade (cute), Bridgestone (the beaver, but not reply all), CarMax (pretty darn good), Best Buy (droll), Careerbuilder (so silly), Chevrolet (eco and tommy, but not glee), and the best - Volkswagon's little Darth Vader.
i wonder about the age group of the people (in their respective companies) who made the decisions to go forward with these commercials. were any of them older than 55? i'm just curious.

groovin' right along
well, it's time once again to plug my favorite internet music station. it's GROOVERA.COM and i've loved it forever. it used to be called FrostByte Groove Lounge and then they decided to change their name. sad, but so it goes.
they have three types of chilled music for your enjoyment: Low Mercury (my fav) with laid-back sounds, Jet City Lounge which is more upbeat, and Audio Popsicle which has some vocals.
even though Low Mercury out-distances the others by miles and miles in my opinion, it does occasionally play some pieces I. Can. Not. Stand. for example, i hate cj weaver, cyberia, dj cam, fat jon the ample soul physician, j boogie's dubtronic science, kruder & dorfmeister, lemongrass, manoloco, miguel graca, patchworks, rithma, tripglitch, and visit venus. i mean, yuck! patooey! gawk! ohmygod, get them off this world!
on the other hand, i loooooove a lot of creators on this station: alexander chereshnev, all india radio, b-tribe, carmen rizzo, chilled c-quence, chris coco, conjure one, delerium, digital analog band, digital moodz, electrix, enrico riva, francis rimbert, george chatzis, gROUSe, houie d, ibizarre, indra, isan, jeff woodall, joey fehrenbach, jon hopkins, kaya project, kukan dub lagan, maneesh de moor, michael e, moshang, mo-shic, nalepa, n. bar, nexion-project, riot act, rue du soleil, side liner, suntwins, tones on tail, ulrich schnauss, urban myth club, vargo, ypey, and zero cult.
now, admittedly, this second group can have some stinkers, but by-and-large these people just touch my soul. i completely go into another world when one of their pieces is on.
but to get back to the subject, the next time you're online, plug into the best sounds on the web and for the ultimate experience, click on Low Mercury ..... heaven.

read your book and kill it too
i love to read. some days i like romances, some days i prefer sci-fi, some days i want to read fantasy.
nancy martin writes a blackbird sisters mystery series and i get a kick out of it -- it's pretty light-hearted. i really enjoyed 'cross your heart and hope to die' as well as 'have your cake and kill him too' -- they have some really funny lines in them. i was going to share a couple, but now i don't remember what pages they're on.
one of the sisters is really cool, but another one, libby, drives me NUTS!!! in fact, there are times when i'm determined to never pick up another book in the series, that gal drive me so crazy. but then it seems to tone down and i go on.
i wonder if the author knows how bad that character is....
