abuse encouraged

so you think we should accept muslims and their faith in this country? does that mean you think it's okay to abuse women?

    Nope!

    In fact, I don't think abuse is ok in any context, whatever the justification. And I think anyone who uses Islam to justify such behavior should be called out and ridiculed. This is not how human beings act; this is how petulant, scared man-boys justify instilling fear in those they have power over because there's no actual reason for them to be respected.

    That being said, we could spend hours pointing out all the vile things contained in the bible. But except for a certain few, people somehow manage to be "Christian" without doing such vile things.

    I think I tend to be fair about these things. When someone self-identifies as a Muslim, I don't immediately think "woman abuser!" or "terrorist!" any more than when someone identifies as Christian. In both cases—or at least, those cases where they are using their religion as a cudgel—I think "credulous, reality-blinded idiot!"

    Seems to have served me well so far.

    i knew what you meant, i just haven't had time to respond. :)

    i don't think about comparing muslims to christians because there's no separation of church and state to them. and they're far far far more fundamentalist than our backward religions. and they have many more man-boys! and they must all have tiny wee-wees.
